  • The body, with help from the brain, has the ability to heal itself from any form of trauma. Brainspotting therapy uses a client’s visual field to uncover unprocessed trauma, negative beliefs or emotions, and both emotional and physical pain.

Identifying and using “brainspots” can allow clients to access deeper emotions and traumatic memories that we might not have even known we were hiding from ourselves. Pulling those experiences out of our body’s memory can help us face them head on and process them in an effective way.

Brainspotting locates points in the client’s visual field to help them access unprocessed emotions in the subcortical level of the brain. This is done by guiding the client’s gaze with a pointer and identifying spots that bring emotion. These brainspots activate traumatic memories or emotions, which allows the client to access emotions on a deeper level and target them in a more specific way.

Brainspotting gives the therapist access to both the brain and the body to help process deep-rooted emotions. The goal is to help people access, process, and overcome trauma, negative emotions, and pain. This is done by bypassing the brain’s conscious thinking, which is addressed in talk therapy and traditional sport psychology. Brainspotting gets at the deeper, more emotional, and body-based process which is organized around an eye position.

  • I work with all levels of athletes ranging from the pros all the way to the middle school level. I am paneled with a few major league players unions and enjoy working with any athlete or performer that wants to reach peak performance level.

Due to the nature of the work we do in session, children under the age of 13 usually struggle to grasp these concepts. I typically work with clients aged 13 and up. However, if you have a more mature child that is under that age, we can still talk about your child’s needs and capabilities to see if it will be a good fit.
